*****ODE TO THE BLUE PORCUPINE*****

Ok, for those of you who do not know I like to write Poetry. Further evidence that I have a sensitive side. Some of it is good and some not so good! You can let me know if you like it or not and feel free to be honest. I can take it! I will try to post one a week so keep checking. As I get in more of a routine with my blogging I might dedicate a day to the poetry, but for now I will just post them as I feel my artistic side arise inside of me. Enjoy!

It’s Friday and the wife is finally home you see,
Something is different,
I don’t know what it is, can you help me?

She left on Tuesday and came back today,
I missed her this time.
She looked beautiful as she walked in the door I must say!

But her head, it looks a funny shade of blue,
I think that is it,
No wait she kind of resembles a porcupine too!

It’s just a hat guys I am not going crazy!

She was just gone to long,
When she is not around everything is just a little fuzzy!

I love you baby even when your hair is pointed and blue.
I am glad you are home,
Now all my girls are together again and we don’t have to miss you!

"MY Buddy"

As you read in my last blog, we had to put our dog Moose, or as Rylan called him “My Buddy”, down Saturday. I will let you in on a little secret. I may be the man of the house but I am also the emotional wimp of the house as well! I cried like a baby on Saturday! I feel it was an appropriate time for the emotional outburst so I am not going to beat myself up about it. Sometime you just need a good cry! And I got it on Saturday. I thought I was going to take him by myself, but Kelli decided to go with me. I think she knew I needed the support. I love you for coming Babe! I often wonder where I got my emotional side. The only thing I can think of is that I have two sisters and a Mom. And yes I was a Momma’s Boy, get over it. On the way home from the Vet I started to worry about how Ry Ry would handle the news. One thing I have learned about being surrounded by women is that you do not know how they are going to react to certain situations. And when you are dealing with a 3 years old girl you really do not know! We were packing for Austin and I heard Rylan say “I am going to go play with My Buddy.” I followed her outside and picked her up. I did not really know what to say but I just looked at her and gave her a hug and said “Sweetie, you know how Moose was hurt and could not walk anymore?” I could feel her head on my shoulder nod yes and then I told her, “Well Moose went to Doggie Heaven so he can run and play, and not be in pain anymore.” After I said this I was waiting for her to start crying. There was a long pause and then she said, “Like Charlotte web Daddy?” I smiled to myself and said, “Yes baby just like Charlotte.” I guess the 50 times she has watched Charlotte’s Web came in handy! Then she said “will you kick the soccer ball with me?” Just like that it was over and forgotten. Wouldn’t the world be easier if we were all 3 years old?

Let me tell you one Moose and Lane story that always makes me laugh. Shortly after we got Moose (he was about 3 years old when we took him in) we went to Petsmart to get him a nametag and a collar. That week I had been trying to teach Moose how to jump into the back of my truck, and was not having any success. I guess I thought all he needed was a new collar and a nametag and he would finally make the leap into the bed of my truck. So, as moose pulled me out of the store toward the truck I noticed the tailgate was down and I started running in front of Moose. I thought surely he would see me jump into the back of my truck and he would follow my lead. I made my approach and jumped up toward the bed. Just as I thought I was the best dog trainer ever, my foot hit the tailgate and I proceeded to do a face plant into bed of the truck. I jumped up as fast as I could hoping nobody saw me. The first person I saw was my wife who was about to pee her pants she was laughing so hard! I looked down at Moose who was sitting on the ground just looking at me with his ears kind of raised and his head cocked to the side as if to say “are you ok idiot?” Kelli and I could not stop laughing all the way home. Every now and again I think of this story and start laughing. That was seven years ago. Funny how I became so attached to a dog that I did not even want. He was a special dog to me and will always be on my mind!

Love that Dog!

My First Time

This is a stretch for me but I am going to give it a try. I have a couple of reasons for trying to blog. I would like my family to be able to keep up with my life. I will try to do this by putting to words the joy that my girls bring me. I think this will help me reflect on the day to day life of my children and my wife. Sometimes I feel like I just drift through my day and do not soak up the details. Hopefully this blog will make me pay more attention. I bought a diary a couple of months ago and have not opened it yet. Hopefully this will be more of a success.

For starters I will let you know that I am a blessed man. As my bolg name suggests I am surrounded by women. I have a beautiful wife kelli, a 3 year old girl Rylan and a sweet little 1 year old daughter named Reese. I love my girls to no end. That being said, I am truly out numbered which poses a dilemma. Do I want another child? I really want a boy but I might have another girl! Which is fine, but I might end up with a cheerleading squad if I am not careful!Speaking of being surrounded by women, my wife went to the movies tonight and I had the privilege of some dad time with R&R. If you would have asked me 20 years ago if I would like to play with Cinderella I would have laughed in your face. But tonight I dressed Cinderella in her best gown and danced with the Prince. AND LIKED IT. Rylan and I had a great time just talking and dressing up the dolls and I look forward to our next Ry Ry and dad time. Reese is sick so she went down early tonight. Maybe next time she will be able to play with us.

Rylan quote of the day: "KK your to big for that potty." Then when she got on the potty she told KK, "Look my bo bo is small and fits just fine." Let me clarify that KK does not have a big bo bo. Not hat I am looking at my SIL bobo, but her and my wife are both very tiny and pretty women. Their bo bo's just happen to be a little bigger than a 3 year olds!

On a sad note, we are putting our dog Moose down tomorrow. He has been a great pooch. Love you buddy! RIP.
